Rangers Win AL West

The Texas Rangers wrapped up the AL West today with a win over the Oakland A's.  It's the first time the Rangers have made the playoffs since 1999 - you know, back when Juan Gone wasn't long gone, and Pudge was... oh wait, he's still around.  In honor of this epic victory... okay, it wasn't really that shocking, they've been way ahead in the division most of the season.  Regardless, in honor of the Rangers clinching the division, I now present you with a picture of Michael Young (who is in the playoffs for the first time after 1500+ regular season games) Kung Fu fighting the rest of the team.

And your bonus picture: Rangers Ron Washington eating an imaginary apple.  Apparently the cocaine rehab was very effective.

And your double bonus picture: The original Texas Ranger...

You ARE welcome.

DeShields Signed by Astros

In news that made me feel just a little older, the Houston Astros signed Delino DeShields, Jr, who was the 8th overall pick in this year's draft.  Soon, I imagine a throwback team filled with players such as DeShields Jr, Tim Raines Jr, Ken Griffey Jr, and Eric Young Jr.

Do you know how long it took for me to find that many Jr's in the majors?  Too long, my friends, too long.

Pirates Haven't Had Multi-Run HR in a Month

On June 8th, Pirates 3B Delwyn Young hit a 2-run HR off of Stephen Strasburg.  Why do Pirates fans remember this?  Because it was all their offense could manage against the young phenom?  No.  Because it was a milestone home run for Young?  No.  Because it set a single-season record for most RBIs in a single at bat for a Pirates 3B?  Nope.  Pirates fans remember it because it was the last multi-run home run the Pirates have hit so far this season.

That's right, folk!  The Pirates haven't had a 2, 3 or 4 run home run in a month!  It is completely unbeliev.... Wait a minute.  This is the Pirates, right?  Okay, maybe it's not that unbelievable.
