Twins Win AL Central

In honor of the Minnesota Twins wrapping up their claim to the playoffs by winning the AL Central, and beginning their inaugural season at Target Field with some measure of success.  Here's a picture of Twins player Michael Cuddyer frolicking in the field while supposedly playing first base.

Rangers Try to Join No-Hit Parade

Because there haven't been enough reasons to consider this season the Year of the Pitcher, Rich Harden and the Rangers bullpen attempted to throw yet another no-hitter last night against the Minnesota Twins.  Thankfully, for everybody tired of hearing about how all the hitters are done using steroids (which, apparently, could be the only possible explanation for the upshot in pitching this season), Joe Mauer singled with one out in the 9th to break up the no-no.

Mauer Slacking Off

Just after signing a major contract extension prior to the season, Joe Mauer has given up hitting home runs for the Minnesota Twins.  After a career high of 29 in 2009, Mauer has only 3 HRs this season.  Twins manager Ron Gardenhire: "I'm not worried about Mauer.  He'll come around.  To be honest, I think we overpaid him in the first place.  He's an MVP, so what?  You know who else was an MVP?  Me, in my winter softball league.  Big deal."
